New Track: Jamie xx “Girl”

Last month we checked out Jamie xx‘s track “Sleep Sound“, off the producer’s upcoming 12” due out May 5th on Young Turks, and today we take a listen to the record’s opener, “Girl“. While “Sleep Sound” continued to showcase Jamie xx’s brilliantly minimalist sonic approach, at it’s heights there’s something about “Girl” that seems more filled out and lush. Built around a powerful bass-line, pitch shifting vocals, and soaring synths, Jamie xx’s fearless use of “negative space” is still present here, along with the producer’s expertly defined sonic palette!
