Plaid will release their new LP Reachy Prints via Warp Records on May 20th and today the band made the track “Tether” available for listen with a very interesting interactive web app. Designed by Jono Brandel (Google Creative Lab, Patatap), in collaboration with Plaid’s Ed Handley and Andy Turner, the app’s open source code is available thru Github here; and using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, it makes use of emerging browser technologies like Canvas2d, WebGL, and the Web Audio API by allowing users to manipulate the sonic elements of “Tether” by mousing over on computer, or with a touch on phones and tablets. I would suggest running “Tether” on a browser like Chrome or Firefox for best results, and it’s definitely an entertaining way to interact and replay the song thru exploring the app’s evolving visual features!
