The Fresh & Onlys‘ are readying their House Of Spirits LP for release on June 10th via Mexican Summer, and today the band put out their first single from the record, “Animal of One“. Many of the tracks were written while the band’s Tim Cohen stayed at a remote horse farm in Arizona. Using a guitar, Korg keyboard, and drum machine to build his ideas, the songs were later fleshed out in the company of the band’s guitarist Wymond Miles, bassist Shayde Sartin, and drummer Kyle Gibson. As Miles explains, “We wanted to honor the mystery that the desert gave to Tim’s songs”; and indeed, a track like “Animal of One” shines with bright western skies, as Morricone-like guitar lines play off the yearning ache of Cohen’s lyrics, which find him articulating the rigors of forgiving and forgetting with dry and wry wit. The Fresh & Onlys will play several select dates in May and June. Check them out below.
