Captcha Records, purveyors of some of the finest in psychedelic music and beyond, present Introducing…, a 16-track sampler featuring a good deal of previously unreleased, as well as released tracks, from their roster, and it’s an excellent retrospective for one of the most exciting independent labels around. Captcha standouts like Lorelle Meets the Obsolete, Dahga Bloom, onYou, Has A Shadow, and Fielded are well represented here by some excellent track choices off their more recent releases. In addition, early label favorites like Nothing People, Chandeliers, Glitter Wizard, and Running all make appearances, helping to round out the varied strands of psych music that this young label has pursued thru recent years. Also included, and what should really excite Captcha die-hards, are the previously unreleased tracks from some of label’s more enigmatic acts. That means that you get things like Bob Bucko Jr., aka BBJr, covering Spacemen 3’s “Walking With Jesus“, desert baked instrumental psych loveliness from the Brazilian-based Camel Heads, with their track “Mapuche“, what sounds like long-lost Library Music from both ARU and Quicksails, with their tracks “Lost Out On the Ice” and “Find Flux“, awesomely fried out, vintage, Bay-area psych from Buffalo Tooth, with “Snacktology“, as well as one of our all-time label favorites, Moonrises, with their diaphanous nine-minute closer “Isle of Proteus“. Introducing… is available for download from Captcha’s Bandcamp page, and it’s Pay What You Can, so why don’t you dig deep into your pockets to help support this label’s awesomely psycho-active sonic efforts!
