John Fedowitz‘s band Ceremony, not to be confused with the West Coast-based punk rock version that goes by the same name on Matador Records, will release his killer new 5-song EP Birds on May 20th via the German label Emerald & Doreen Records. Fedowitz was a part of the band Skywave, with Paul Baker and Oliver Ackermann (A Place to Bury Stranges), and he originally formed Ceremony with Baker in 2005.
The new EP is a follow-up to last year’s LP release Distance, out now on Moon Sounds Records, and it finds Fedowitz continuing to fashion blissfully overdriven shoe-gaze, with liberal helpings of Psycho Candy-era Jesus and Mary Chain thrown in for good measure! Birds, like Distance, was mastered by Fedowitz’s friend and old bandmate Oliver Ackerman, and he has an excellent ability to temper Ceremony’s sprawling, reverb-soaked walls of sound, without reducing any of their ear-splitting volubility!
