Watch: LCC “Calx”

LCC is an electronic duo from the city of Gijon, which is located in the autonomous community of Asturias, in northern Spain. Ana Quiroga and Uge Pańeda orinally went by the name LasCasiCasiotone, but have since simplified to LCC, and this week the pair released their LP d/evolution, via Editions Mego. Using an almost completely abstracted visual language made from the flickering interplay between textured patterns of light and dark, the video deploys chiaroscuro to great effect, and at times the mesmerizing images suggest a giant, melting ice-flow, shot thru by shards of dangerous light. Sonically, on “Calx”, Quiroga and Pańeda melt down techno into a highly distilled form, before filtering out any last impurities, and the result is wickedly potent and deep-bass urban, with something ominously organic metastasizing beneath it’s surface…
