Watch: Xiu Xiu “New Life Immigration”

Xiu Xiu have just posted a video for their track “New Life Immigration” today, which is off the band’s fantastic LP Angel Guts: Red Classroom, out now on Polyvinyl. Directed by Aaron Mirkin, and with excellent production design from Erika Lobko, the video’s hushed visual qualities have a distinctly painterly quality to them thru their use of a muted color palette and well-executed chiaroscuro. In “New Life Immigration” Stewart sings “this is the love we’ve always dreamt of”, as he and his lover watch Los Angeles burn from from five stories up a fire escape; and here, Mirkin depicts the apocalyptic affair with quiet restraint, altering scenes of his male actors with images of burning flowers! Xiu Xiu have expanded their North American tour, which begins next month, and you can check all the dates below…including the band’s current European live schedule!
