UK producer Nick Cooke, aka Cuttooth, is back, and here he teams up with the American rapper Declaime for this very cool new track, “No Plans“. Declaime, who also records under his real name Dudley Perkins, as well as under the moniker G&D, when recording with Georgia Anne Muldrow, hails from California, and his first two US releases as Dudley Perkins, 2003’s A Lil’ Light and 2006’s Expressions, where produced by Madlib. However, as Declaime, his body of work stretches even further back to 1999 with his Illmindmuzik EP. Here, teamed up with Cuttooth on “No Plans”, he spits a bleak poetry, the Rapper’s blues, music game as stalemate, while facing down selling out with grim pride! Cuttooth provides the perfect reflective ambience for the dark musings, while his syncopated rhythmic track, drummed acoustically rather than machine derived, provides a strong, live backbone to the tense “soul searching” of this cut.
