Dum Dum Girls have posted a new video for their track “Too True To Be Good” off the band’s 2014 LP Too True out now on Sub Pop. Directed by filmmaker and photographer Nathaniel Brown, and with creative direction provided by Tamaryn, visually this video is in a similar design vein as “Rimbaud Eyes” minus the animated sequences. Compositing a montage of floral footage with solitary images of a well-dressed, and an even slightly undressed Dee Dee Penny, the video creates a striking, stylized look. Not as visually ambitious as “Rimbaud Eyes,” nor as fun as very early, lo-fi efforts like “Bhang Bhang I’m a Burnout” or “Jail La La,” “Too True To Be Good”‘s well-stylized psychedelia bears a pretty surface, but not much else.
Dum Dum Girls will play the Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle this summer, as well the Riot Fest in Denver, and Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest. You can check all the dates below…
