Watch: OOFJ “Snakehips”

OOFJ will follow-up their excellent 2013 LP Disco To Die To, out now on Fake Diamond Records, with an upcoming long player later this year. Meanwhile, we have a little taste of things to come with the duo’s new single, “Snakehips“, released yesterday via the label, accompanied by this excellent video for the track. It features an American dancer named Earl “Snakehips” Tucker (1905-1937), known as the “human boa constrictor”, and the footage was taken from the 1930’s short film “Crazy House“, which can be found on the Warner Archive Collection DVD Classical Musical Shorts From The Dream Factory. Tucker made this dance style popular back in the 1920’s, in the dance clubs around Harlem, and here, his amazingly lithe and sinuous dance is edited so seamlessly to OOFJ’s seductive electronics, you’d almost think the dance was created just for them!
