The Yugos exude youthful exuberance and summer swagger on their new single release, “Follow You“! The band was started in 2009 by the Kentucky brothers Jordin and Christian Gough, and in the years following they have added multi-instrumentalist Jackson Deal, as well as bassist Jeremy Graham into their growing camp. The band has two LPs under their belt, 2011’s self-titled album and 2013’s Life is Awesome, and Then You Live Forever, as well as their debut EP Y.E.P., all released via the band’s “non-profit record label”, Best Friend Records. The Yugos currently reside in Cincinnati, where they are part of that cities vibrant D.I.Y scene, and their infectious spirit is definitely evident on this newest effort. “Follow You” stands solidly on a hook-driven interplay between lead and rhythm guitars, as well as whip-smart tumbles of drum and bass, and the song really shines with great vocal interplay between the band’s members, as well as lines like “life without joy, is it really life at all?”. The Yugos wrap up a short midwest tour tomorrow night in Columbus, OH, and they have several upcoming local shows in August, so check out those dates below…
