The new Craft Spells LP Nausea is out now on Captured Tracks, and today we take a look at the recently posted video for the title track. In the interim between Justin Vallesteros amazing debut, 2010’s Idle Labor (CT), and the release of his newest long player, the artist relocated from Seattle to San Francisco-where he suffered from writers block and feelings of isolation-before moving back in with his parents and spending a year learning how to play the piano. Nausea was written on the instrument, rather than with his guitar, which had been his previous working method; and recorded in Seattle, the new album marks the next phase in the introspective musician’s continued creative evolution. The video for “Nausea” was created by the NY-based artist Colin Macfadyen, and here he uses a gray and black palette of hand drawn and painted animations to depict the track’s insular and reflective qualities.
