Another peak into what Lee Gamble has cooking up for his upcoming LP KOCH, due out September 12th via PAN. “Motor System” is the second cut off the record, and it finds him continuing to hone in on his jungle infused vision of modern electronic music, but it’s use of a fuzzed-out guitar-line as it’s central melodic feature demonstrates the way Gamble has drawn from a wide and varied swath in assembling his new tracks. “Motor System” opens with a robotic, four-to-the-floor beat that pounds with cold, lifeless urgency, before a hazy, nocturnal guitar line is repeatedly turned thru the length of the track with mantric precision, creating an inward tow, as rhythmic “club” scree bubbles to the jungly surface. By midpoint the cut dives into a sub-aquatic break, adding an alien, difficult to discern male vocal sample, while removing the beat, only to later redouble it’s rhythmic efforts with fast forward, raved-out kinetics!
