UK producer/musician Andy Stott returns on November 18th with a new LP offering of wickedly dark electro-pop. Faith In Strangers is due out via the Manchester-based label Modern Love, and it is the follow up to his critically lauded 2012 LP Luxury Problems. Built from various recorded instruments, vocal treatments, found sounds and field recordings made between January of last year and June of this year, the LP was edited and sequenced this past July. “Violence” provides our first listen in, and it’s eery, cinematic sonics reveal an artist who seems to revel in the act of creative destruction! Something about this track makes it feel like Stott pulled all the viscera out of it, before stitching it back together like some mad scientist. The core of this track remains a skewed and dramatic vocal offering, coupled with Stott’s facility for rusted and resonating ambience, but things really take off when he adds black hole bass and a menacing array of battering beats. Andy Stott is currently playing a handful of select US dates, including later this week at Seattle’s outstanding Decibel Festival with Modern Love labelmate Demdike Stare, as well as his other project Millie & Andrea.
