Cherry Glazerr, LA’s up-n-coming indie rock trio, finds Clementine Creevy on vocals/guitar, Hannah Uribe on drums, and Sean Redman on bass, and while Redman’s the only member of drinking age, the kids made quite a stir earlier this year with their Burger Records LP, Haxel Princess. Awkward and pimpley teens these ain’t, evidenced by the fact that they have been photographed by French fashion designer Hedi Slimane of Saint Laurent Paris, and commissioned by him to score his upcoming fall/winter 2014 Paris show, which is what this track was written for. On “Had Ten Dollaz”, Creevy’s sugar coated guitar hooks and banshee howl are well balanced by Redman’s warm, muscular bass, and when she croons with witchy creepines, “I know that you notice my ways/and I feel your gaze…”, later turning the tables by alternating “gaze” for “pain”, it adds just the right amount of femme fatale finality! “Had Ten Dollaz” is due out on limited 7″ vinyl October 28th via Suicide Squeeze, with 250 copies coming on “fluorescent lemon lime vinyl”. Delicious!
