Watch: Brutal Truth “Control Room: Smoke Grind and Sleep Mix”

I know I for one will be getting as much Brutal Truth as I can possibly stand over the next month or so, as the band’s bassist, underground metal legend Dan Lilker (Nuclear Assault, Anthrax), announced earlier this year that he will be retiring from touring on October 18th, which also happens to be his 50th birthday. You can checkout the announcement via Blabbermouth, but basically Lilker explains that after thirty years on the road, he’s ready for a new trip! Who can blame the guy, and, as he goes on to explain, “I will still have creative output with my two local bands in Rochester, New York, NOKTURNAL HELLSTORM and BLURRING, and do the occasional project tour.” But, sad to say, Brutal Truth will be no longer.
So Lilker fans, let’s commiserate with some “Fascist Killing” Trogotronic power electronics! “Control Room: Smoke Grind and Sleep Mix“, off 2013’s daunting LP offering, The Axiom Of Post Inhumanity (Relapse), is a twenty-three minute marathon through ambient realms of dread and nausea, and on it Lilker and his gang of sonic freaks boil black metal down, rigorously distilling it into the very essence of the genre’s sonic horror! The video for the track was edited by Josh M, and he follows suit, treating an array of sometimes disturbing found footage to heavy helpings of video mud and static viscera, to create obscuring, often painterly textures over the queasy images…
