Listen: William Arcane “Reckless”

558

William Arcane‘s Reckless EP is due out October 20th via Pictures Music. This will be the UK artist’s third release for the label, and on it he has ditched his computer synth plug-ins, opting instead for sampled acoustic sounds and analogue synthesizers. The title track shows off William’s deft compositional abilities and evocative vocal talents, as well as a highly creative sonic sense. While Arcane’s bruised falsetto is beautifully framed throughout the track, it’s the vaguely human sound he gets from his synth just after the intro, and then going on to form a simply stated counter-melody throughout most of the rest of the cut, that provides “Reckless” with it’s real air of mystery. Almost synesthesia inducing, those breathy tones of color seem to ache with human yearning, as though searching for a voice with which to speak; and I would bet they are the result of his “sampled acoustics” yielding one of those stumbled upon, but truly striking finds!
