Watch: Bing & Ruth “Reflector”

David Moore‘s instrumental group Bing & Ruth will release Tomorrow Was the Golden Age October 14th via RVNG Intl. The nine track 2xLP is considered an album length composition, and it finds the composer/musician David Moore paring his band down to seven players: two bassists, two clarinetists, a cellist, and analogue tape tech, with Moore on piano. “Reflector” is built around Moore’s delicately cascading chord structures and rich, resonant patches of ambient drift. Nothing hurries here as this sublimely expanding field of sonics slowly unfolds, and if destination is your goal, “Reflector” subverts it, offering instead a process oriented audioscape of micro-tonalities, laced together by Moore’s organic melodies. Looking to take his music “from the darkness to the light”, UK artist and designer Hana Tajima follows suit with this beautifully filmed video for the track. Shot over several early mornings in New York city, Tajima’s discrete images pay close attention to the gradually shifting gradations of light to produce this lovely portrait of a city waking up.
