While interpretive dance might not have been the direction you saw coming for Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, in “New Black Rich (Tusks)” the singer/songwriter displays another facet of his triple threat skill set. OK, hopefully he doesn’t have a one man dance cycle planned for Arise, Therefore, but whose to begrudge the guy if he wants to cut it real loose as the tusked suitor in this new video directed by Claudia Crobatia. Haunting the bars down by the wharf, our long in the tooth troubadour falls for the dauntingly beautiful Bella Hay, a hoofed chanteuse at a dead end dive, and the perfect paramour for a love song that begins, “I’ll say good-bye/Before we meet”. “New Black Rich (Tusks)” is off Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy’s new LP Singer’s Grave a Sea of Tongues, out now on Drag City.
