Daveed Diggs unleashes a blazing, street-level tirade over what sounds like a blaring alarm clock on clipping.‘s track “Get Up“, proving the trio needs only the barest of means to create their panicked brand of dramatic tension. Directors Carlos Lopez Estrada and Cristina Bercovitz have both directed videos for clipping., and here they team up to do the visual honors, framing Diggs as a dying man, awkwardly positioned so that, even though he appears to be standing, he also seems to be lying flat on the cement. With his hands twisted unnaturally, and with what starts as a small stain of blood on his shirt, the video’s flashing red lights are eventually matched by Diggs’ fast spreading and bloody wound. Politically charged, the video’s sharp critique of current social conditions is made even more powerful by Estrada and Bercovitz’s one shot set-up. You can find “Get Up” on clipping.’s 2014 LP CLPPNG, out now on Sub Pop.
