Death Grips might be dead as of 2014, but you didn’t expect them to rest in peace, did ya? Having announced their demise in the middle of a double album release, mere weeks after the first half came out, Niggas On The Moon, and with the second record, Jenny Death, impending, these salty gents still had work to do. While the band reports that The Powers That B (Third Worlds) is finally complete, the 2xLP that will unite the aforementioned halves, no official release date is yet available. However, Death Grips have provided a first look and listen in with this new video for the Jenny Death track, “Inanimate Sensation“.
Part of the groups intriguing appeal has always been their visual output, for instance releasing a surreal, cutting edge barrage of videos for all eleven tracks on Government Plates. Here, a wrecked jumbo tron, crashed onto an empty stadium basketball court, brilliantly provides the video’s second screen, where we watch MC Ride spit his virulent non sequiturs. Meanwhile, a psychedelic maelstrom of colors and bizarre imagery rapidly intercut, providing a visual whiplash in keeping with Ride’s verbal beatdown. I suspect Death Grips have kept the best for last!
