Watch: Stage Hands “The Populating Of Empty Space”

Stage Hands are an electro-acoustic duo comprised of producer/multimedia artist Brandon Locher and producer/drummer Gerald Mattis, and on February 10th the pair will release a self-titled, 6-track LP via the Johnstown, PA art collective label My Idea of Fun. While “The Populating of Empty Space” first made the rounds on the label’s Soundcloud page about 8 months back, Stage Hands now have a new video for the track, directed by Joshua Rogers of Broken Machine Films & Illuminated Paths. The YouTube version of the video doesn’t quite do the cyberdelic imagery here the full justice it deserves, though Rogers’ techno-erotic fantasies, TV-headed humanoids, and visually teaming, futuristic interiors are fascinating none the less! Meanwhile, Stage Hands meld glitchy electronics and piercing squelches with cosmically serene synth tones, eventually attaining robo-funky rhythms, with a knowing nod to 90’s IDM.
