Let’s check out Cuttooth‘s stellar new track “Dark Days“, featuring additional vocals from Meghann Clancy. The UK producer delivers a beautiful cut of downtempo here, on what he calls “a real departure”, as it also features lead “vocals” from the artist himself. “Dark Days” opens on trickling bits of crushed static before pulsing chords glow through the sonic mist in colored neon. Like a somnolent, half heard lullaby from deep within a dream, the track adds Nick Cooke and Meghann Clancy’s sublimated vocals, and they intertwine way down in the aquatic fog like a siren call inducing the listener to row out far from shore into a bodiless revery. Hushed and intermittent beats, as well as atmospheric production, add to the effect, and after passing thru a k-hole of bit crushed chimes and tape hiss, “Dark Days” closes with an exhilarating, though still understated, coda.
