Listen: Flores Del Vicio “Bob Marley Polo Shirt”

The UK electronic label Opal Tapes is looking forward to a big year in 2015! Upcoming releases from the label include artists like Gondwana and O/H, as well as tapes due out from Michael DeMaio, Decimus, BAT, D.Ĺ.R.F.D.H.S., as well as, what Opal Tapes calls a “misplaced entry” from Flores Del Vicio. There’s not much internet evidence to cull on Flores Del Vicio, except this blown-out bit of industrial minimalism called “Bob Marley Polo Shirt“, and the Soundcloud #’d names William Watts and Ford Foster. A little research also reveals the pair previously joined forces for the label’s 2014 split release Ford Foster & William Watts.
On “Bob Marley Polo Shirt”, they reduce a techno drum kick into a rusted clatter, like some Matt Heckert percussion sculpture left out to destroy itself in a toxic rain of 8-bit static. Blasts of strangled horn and the beatings of machine noise scrape and claw their way thru the percussive throttling, before this maniacal beast of a track collapses and suffocates under it’s own crushing sonic weight.
