I recommend getting on board with Los Angeles Police Department before Ryan Pollie‘s ship sets sail and leaves you waving lamely from the peer! This one man project has an upcoming 7″ due out via Fat Possum on February 24th, and this week we got a taste of things to come with “Water and Wine“. Looks like this will be the B-side to the record, and while “Insecurity” struck a more stripped back, rough hewn garage tact to bedroom rock heaven, “Water and Wine” is lush and aching pop loveliness! Something about this track reminds me of Avi Buffalo‘s first record, and the huge promise that a song like “What’s In It For?” revealed way back in 2010, and while both are natives of Southern Cali, Pollie’s project is currently more of a one man affair. You wouldn’t necessarily know that, though, in listening to “Water and Wine” with it’s filled out musical arrangements and nuanced song structure.
