Just when I was wondering what the good folks over at Captcha Records have been up to, comes a missive announcing the release of White Manna‘s new LP Pan, due out May 26th via the label. This psych quintet hails from Humboldt, CA, but is named for a diner in Jersey (‘fer reals), as well as the “holy” food of the Israelites. It’s a lot to live up to, but these dudes come more than sonically equipped! On “Evil“, the gang rides outta town on some burly, proto-punk riffage, with the see-sawing of 60’s-style organ coming on like low grade acid (perfect for a long night of whiskey drinking). There’s an unmistakeable shirts-off-bliss here, you know, that slack mouthed eyes closed kind; but, while many of the tracks on 2014’s Come Down Safari were cosmically launched affairs, “Evil” heads straight for open road lookin’ to get into some real bad shit! Look for White Manna to tour with UK psych titans Mugstar this coming May, kicking things off at this year’s Austin Psych Fest. Check the dates after the embed…
