Eternal Tapestry‘s 2xLP Wild Strawberries is out now on Thrill Jockey, and this week the band released a new video for “Mountain Primrose“. The label reports that the album was recorded in a secluded cabin “under the shadow of Mount Hood in Zigzag, OR.”. In addition, the Portland-based jam band reportedly recorded the new work over a stash of Phish cassette bootlegs, after the band’s drummer came across a cache of over 700. With each track named for flora found in the woods and mountains around the cabin, “Mountain Primrose”, the album’s lysergic gate opener, uses the updraft from salubrious drones, nonsensical chants, and blowing chimes to work a very psycho-activating sonic spell. The video for the track was created by the amazing visual artist Brenna Murphy, and she combines mirrored and kaleidoscopic nature footage with her alien, yet somehow organic forms–here depicted in 3D CGI to surreal effect. Eternal Tapestry will play the Austin Psych Fest this coming May, as well as other select US and European dates. Check ’em out…
