!!! return with their first new track in almost two years “All You Writers,” and physical copies of the single will be available on Record Store Day. The cut features vocalist Teresa Eggers, who wrote and sang on “Slyd,” off the band’s 2013 LP THR!!!ER out now on Warp Records. The group describes “All U Writers” as a “banger to bang all bangs”, and while elements of !!!’s trademark electro-funk are definitely present, the band acknowledges they are also trying new things. As leadman Nic Offer recently explained to THUMP, “We’re kinda throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. We’ve written close to forty songs.”
While !!!’s brand of dance music has always had its roots in funk, via krautrock masterpieces like Can’s Tago Mago, on “All U Writers” they explore their clubbier side. Like a dance cut that might “sample some old disco loop,” Offer explains that elements of the new song are repurposed from something else the band had been working on. So, it’s !!! sampling !!!, but as Nic reminds us, “We’re a pretty jammin’ little disco band ourselves.”
