This past weekend The Holydrug Couple posted a new video for their single “Baby, I’m Going Away” off the duo’s upcoming Moonlust LP out on May 12th via Sacred Bones. While capable of long form immersions in cosmically inclined head space, Ives Sepúlveda and Manuel Parra tend to land on the more arboreal side of the psych spectrum.
“Baby, I’m Going Away” features a breezy sun-soaked vibe, and rather than spiraling outward (or inward), on this cut the pair focus on a cool island riff that sounds almost like a tape-spliced sample on repeat. Meanwhile, Sepúlveda bids farewell to a summer love in daydreaming falsetto–making this a bittersweet bit of psychoactive pop.
