New Zealand native Kody Nielson‘s bedroom pop project Silicon will release the debut single “God Emoji” on May 25th via Weird World. The multi-instrumentalist dials in a really nifty palette of sounds on this groovy track, with disco funky bass lines providing an understated elegance, while glowing synth washes punctuate Nielson’s cool, high register vocals. While there’s an ’80’s sorta electro-pop vibe here, “God Emoji” is very much a future forward sounding cut, and just cause Silicon “don’t want to go out on a Saturday night”–cause, guess what, he got too high–doesn’t mean you gotta dance off your Xenon hangover alone in your room tonight!
Silicon has two upcoming live dates with Unknown Mortal Orchestra this May. Here they are…
May 21st: Islington Assembly Hall, London, UK
May 25th: Bitterzoet, Amsterdam, Holland
