Fans of the Japanese psych/folk group Ghost will be happy to hear that core members Masaki Batoh and Kazuo Ogino have teamed up again as The Silence, and they have a new self-titled LP out now on Drag City. The record includes this cover of Can’s “Tango Whiskeyman“, off the band’s 1970 album Soundtracks; and Batoh and Co. come more than equipped to do this number proud–with keys and horn giving it the giddy, vintage swing it deserves! As it was a song originally written by Can’s Japanese singer Damo Suzuki, who had recently joined the group at the time, Masaki Batoh’s vocal delivery of it is just right! Visuals are provided by Brown Shoes Only’s Nick Ciontea, and he offers up a liquid light show of oozing oils to tantalize your optical nerve centers.
