Listen: Johnny Superglu “The Prince”

Belgian producer Johnny Superglu will release his Rambo Village EP on June 1st via Plynt Records. Beginning his musical life as a metal guitarist, and going on to work with the ultra strange Brussels-based outfit Scratch Pet Land (after he played his guitar over a Gameboy loop for brothers Laurent and Nicolas Baudoux), Quentin Hanon adopted the moniker Johnny Superglu back in 2010, swapping his guitar for a small collection of analogue electronic gear. Discussing his working method with The Word magazine recently, Hanon explains:

“My approach to making music is to keep everything as simple as possible. Most of my tracks are made on the fly. I build a basic set-up, start jamming and push rec whenever something cool comes out of the mixer”.

This stripped down approach can be heard on the producer’s lead single “The Prince“, off his upcoming effort. Matching an acid bass-line with the staccato snap of some burly hand claps, Hanon eventually adds slurred passages of hi-hat and reverb heavy key stabs, slowly tweaking these few elements into a rippling dance floor head-banger.
While you’re at, get a load of this video teaser for Rambo Village. Sure, it might not provide much insight as to what the record will sound like, but it sure looks cool…
