Listen: No Joy “Hollywood Teeth”

No Joy shared their new track “Hollywood Teeth” today, off the band’s upcoming June 9th release More Faithful, due out via Mexican Summer. Some minor confusion ensued when the accompanying Billboard article quoted the band as saying that the song’s title, originally just a “working” title, was inspired by Hilary Duff’s teeth (“she had the crazy teeth, Hollywood-style”). Since the article’s posting the band has clarified matters on Twitter, explaining: “”Hollywood Teeth” is in no way inspired by Hilary Duff, but we were watching her new music video before the billboard interview”. Well, glad that’s all cleared up!
Instead, according to No Joy singer/guitarist Jasamine White-Gluz, “Hollywood Teeth” is a break-up song, but with a slight twist. She says, “…I was like, ‘Everything’s cool, let’s have a party!’ Nobody has hurt feelings, it’s all fun.” Pretty awesome when it all works out like that, huh. No bitter sweet melodies or moping rhythms, here, because “Hollywood Teeth” bursts out of the gate with sugary exuberance, while displaying the group’s growing facility for nuanced and crafted pop.
