Last month we checked out Silicon‘s upcoming single, “God Emoji“, due out May 25th via Weird World. Now, the New Zealand-based musician Kody Nielson offers up these visuals for the track. Directed by Sam Peacocke, the video introduces us to Nielson’s glowing-eyed emoji, as the multi-instrumentalist plays drums and keys in a forested tableau under the cover of night. When the hermetic vaper chooses not to go out on a Saturday night, he sends out his stoic-faced emoji instead! What’s really intriguing here, though, is how difficult it is to tell whether these scenes were digitally created or filmed. Seeming to mix a combination of both, the video echoes this track’s brilliant combination of acoustic/synth instrumentation.
Look for Silicon to release an LP later this year, though, no release date has yet been announced. In addition, you can catch the artist live at these upcoming UK/European dates, including a headlining show at Power Lunches…
Thurs 21 May – UK, London, Islington Assembly Hall (w/ Unknown Mortal Orchestra)
Mon 25 May – Holland, Amsterdam, Bitterzoet (w/ Unknown Mortal Orchestra)
Tues 26 May – UK, London, Power Lunches
