Sam Haar and Zach Steinman of Blondes return this week with the limited edition cassette Rein, out now via RVNG Intl. Laid down over a weekend long studio session, this fifty minute improvised track seems to boil down the pair’s work into a peripatetic recording similar to seeing Haar and Steinman perform live. A steady stream of techno driven ideas flow throughout, with plenty of dub influenced ambiance giving Rein that supreme sense of two telepathically linked artists deep in creative drift. In discussing the new release with Resident Advisor, Blondes offer, “There’s a lot more involved in producing tracks than simply playing music, so [Rein] is a way for us to share that side of our creativity un-filtered through studio production and track creation”. The duo also explains that the new work was recorded in preparation for an upcoming EP called Persuasion, which will be due out on RVNG in early August–so we’ll keep our eyes and ears out!
