Earlier this month we checked out Flying Saucer Attack‘s “Instrumental No 7“, off David Pearce‘s upcoming LP Instrumentals 2015, due out July 17th via Domino. This week he offered the next listen in on his first album in fifteen years, “Instrumental 4“. Tonal ambiance prevails on this piece, as Pearce explores a suspended state of awe inducing bliss with cinematic grandeur. By midpoint, the slightest glimmer of a melody emerges like a distant signal receding into the maw of a giant black hole. It’s as though we’ve caught Pearce staring deeply into the mystery of it all, and when asked what he sees, he’s left only to mutter this barely articulate guitar phrase. Saintly!
