David West‘s Rat Columns will release their upcoming EP Fooling Around on July 31st via Blackest Ever Black, and today we check out the new video for “Fooling Around“. West, originally from Perth but residing now in San Francisco, has played in several awesome post-punk bands like Rank/Xerox and Lace Curtains–where he was joined by fellow Australian Mikey Young (Total Control, Eddy Current Suppression Ring). West and Young originally wrote the track “Fooling Around”, and it appeared in a condensed form on Rat Columns’ 2014 album Leaf (R.I.P. Society). The upcoming EP will feature this longer more definitive version of the cut, and it finds Young playing synth on the track, as well as Jonathan Young on bass, Matthew Bleyle on drums, and Rusty Miller on backing vocals. This more extended take clocks in at about seven minutes, and it fuses a motorik driving rhythm to mildly psychedelic jangle-pop, while West adds verse after verse of drifting and hazy bemusement! The video for “Fooling Around” provide some low-key visual fun, as well as footage of the band jamming in their practice space.
