Richard D James is reviving his AFX moniker releasing the Orphaned Deejay Selek (2006-2008) EP on August 21st via Warp Records. This will be the prolific musician’s first return to the project since his Analord series which ran from 2003 to 2005 on Rephlex–the label he founded with Grant Wilson-Claridge in 1991.
tylistically, James has used AFX to explore his more acid house leanings and if “serge fenix Rendered 2” is any indication the upcoming 12″ seems to be no exception. This track is a dense, muscular offering full of rippling bass and jaw-clenching arpeggios. James tricks out his sonic swarm with robotic hand claps and peripatetic wanderings straight from the alien imagination of Apex Twin himself!
