!!! will release their sixth studio LP As If on October 16th via Warp Records. The band wrote over 40 songs in preparation but only ended up recording 20 of them. From there, the group reports that they whittled things down by having “a cross section of our friends with good taste vote the songs down to 11”.Today, we checkout two of the album’s initial offerings–the tracks “Freedom! ’15” and “Sick Ass Moon“.
While booty shaking has always been tops on !!!’s list, I mean who can resist Nic Offers‘ undeniably infectious dance moves, in the past the band’s krautrock influences always showed up too. On their 2013 LP Thr!!!er, though, the band sought a “diva-type” singer to accompany Nic Offer on the track “One Girl/One Boy” and since then the group has dove even further into dance-oriented music! These two new tracks continue in that direction with “Freedom! ’15” offering up an exuberant disco odyssey–the kind of cut that’s sure to have everybody jumping at one of !!!’s unbelievable live shows; while “Sick Ass Moon”‘s retro house vibe isn’t afraid to weird out.
