The Catalan quartet MOURN will release their new 3-song single Gertrudis, Get Through This! on July 17th via Captured Tracks. The band’s new video for the title cut was directed by Roger Guārdia and produced by Canada. Sparse and raw in all the right ways, these black and white images of the band in the studio capture their youthful exuberance, while paying homage to 120 Minutes-era MTV. If the band proudly wears such influences as Sleater Kinney, Pixies and Sonic Youth on their sleeve, they do so with an unmistakeable freshness. “Gertrudis, Get Through This!” simmers with brooding, heartfelt emotion, as tightly woven bass and guitars drive this cut, while echoing it’s spirited vocal interplay.
