This week Oneohtrix Point Never announced the release of his Garden of Delete LP due out November 13th via Warp Records. The news came with several interesting curios definitely worth checking out, including this short video clip called “flame“, a pdf “Letter to the Fans,” as well as an interview with an interesting cohort named Ezra in Kaossed Blog.
Things get far out pretty fast, as Daniel Lopatin explains in his letter. As the story goes, Lopatin met Ezra outside his studio earlier this year when the “loitering” “juvenile delinquent” bummed some paper towels to help deal with an extreme acne condition from which he and his dog Void were suffering from. Turns out the kid’s not just some teen with bad skin, but actually “a humanoid alien stuck in an infinite loop of molting puberty caused by enigmatic stuff beyond comprehension”.
As if that isn’t a lot to swallow, we learn that Ezra is also “great with computers,” and that he built Lopatin all kinds of “exotic software” while hanging out in Oneohtrix Point Never’s subterranean studio. The plot thickens, however, when Ezra goes missing, only to later send a FedEx package containing a “vile of iridescent blue acne” and a “data stick filled with MIDI files.” We suggest following the rabbit holes linked above to learn more!
