This past weekend Deerhunter revealed the release of their Fading Frontier LP, due out October 16th via 4AD. Today we checkout the band’s new video for “Snakeskin, the album’s first single. Directed by Valentina Tapia, bassist and drummer for Atlanta’s Shantih Shantih, the video stars Bradford Cox and his sleepy pooch. Seated in front of cluttered bookshelves, shirtless, but wearing paint splattered overalls and a forest green riding hat, Cox reveals that he was born with an “ability to talk” and a “snake-like walk”. Shoulda’ figured as much! Cutting quite the wraith-like figure with silly grin and creepy skull in hand, Cox’s commanding presence is seconded only by an awesome stop motion sequence in which the dog jumps around in a sea of animated snakes. Oh yeah, and then there’s that random creepy guy lying on the floor in his underwear and combat boots. Also a nice touch!
