Chicago producer DJ Spinn will release his Off That Loud EP on October 2nd via Hyperdub. This past August we watched a video for “Dubby“, which featured DJ Rashad and rapper Danny Brown. That track will appear on the upcoming EP, as well as this new cut, “The Future Is Now“. While “Dubby” seemed to bridge the past and present for DJ Spinn, I mean, it comes complete with posthumous work from Spinn’s brother-in-arms, DJ Rashad, “The Future Is Now” definitely finds the producer in a forward looking mood. Sure, footwork’s athletic rhythms can still be heard, but that laid back Teklife swing has been replaced by a futuristic palate of sounds, and even more hyper-kinetic beats. While some might lament the change, it’s great to see this artist evolving and adding further developments to his sonic approach.
