Julia Holter has shared her new video for “Silhouette” today, off the musician’s critically acclaimed 2015 LP Have You In My Wilderness (Domino). Directed by the LA-based visual artist Rick Bahto, the video’s intimate, homespun imagery is the perfect compliment to Holter’s poetic and timeless pop. Like her music, Bahto builds his film from casual gestures and seemingly off-handed moments, raising them to revelatory heights thru repetition and focus. Holter can be seen at her writing table turning on and off a light, or adjusting the blinds, as all the while these visual metaphors play off the notion of “silhoutte”, until her image can be seen in stark relief against a white wall–as shadow and form become a flickering interplay.
