Today we watch Napolian‘s video for “Always Hope“, off the young producer’s 2014 Mixware release for Software, Road To Incursio. Sketching the behind-the-scenes work that went into the LA-based musician’s Incursio LP, also out via Software that year, the mixtape featured 32 tracks of collaborations, remixes, and stand-alone cuts like this ultra urbane number. Here, it get’s an equally polished video treatment that features an ephemeral collection of beautifully shot moments. While one senses a bunch of intriguing stories must underlie all this seemingly globe spanning footage, “Always Hope” lacks a narrative center, and plays more like a filmmaker’s impressive reel. Left to wonder what all these images were shot for, one almost wishes a “story” had been carved from these fleeting moments.
