The Besnard Lakes will release their new album A Coliseum Complex Museum on January 22nd via Jagjaguwar. Today, we check out the group’s new video for their track “The Plain Moon“. Filmed, directed, and edited by Joseph Yarmush of Suuns, and featuring additional footage from The Besnard Lakes’ own, Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas, the visuals intercut images of band members on the frozen tundra with the group performing live. Yarmush’s fun with video effects keeps everything pretty trippy, as he bakes all this visual ephemera into gently fried eye candy. But, as Olga Goreas just explained to Noisey, there’s more here than meets the eye:
We probably love the supernatural as much as the natural, and weve always been fascinated with more esoteric elements, especially with regards to capturing them visually. There are these sigils I created that are flashed in the video. Each one represents a different positive idea. I actually use them for meditation, and the notion is that you visualize them and they can be realized.
The Besnard Lakes will tour the UK and Europe later this spring. Here are the band’s upcoming live dates…
