Needless to say, coming down sucks. So it should be no surprise it’s a rather gut wrenching experience to hear Elias Bender Rønnenfelt spilling his spleen singing about it. Rønnenfelt’s Marching Church will release their Coming Down: Sessions in April 12″ on February 19th via Sacred Bones.
Seeming to pick up where the project left off on last year’s This World Is Not Enough LP, the Iceage singer has once again assembled an all-star cast of Danish musicians to accompany him. On “Coming Down,” they give him plenty of room to perform his blood letting. The track sets the mood with a catatonic, dirge-like rhythm as strings fray a last nerve. It’s a ritual-like setting that seems to rouse Rønnenfelt from his night terrors, only to deliver him right back into the agony of living. Is anyone else scared for that baby?
