Oakland-based five piece Naked Lights play a heady and visceral brand of post-punk, and the band’s excellent On Nature LP is due out tomorrow via Castle Face Records. The group is currently offering a song-by-song, behind-the-scene’s glimpse into the records making over at Self-Titled today, as well as a Soundcloud stream of it. “Hearse” features a terse and angular back-and-forth between guitarists Cameron Stephens and Christopher Hash, set to brimming and buoyant rhythms, as well as singer Aurora Crispin‘s sometimes playful, sometimes chiding vocal delivery. The video is directed by Japhy Riddle, and while it’s filled with plenty of cryptic imagery, the one that sticks the most is the comical footage of two hands making a rubber-band mouth lip-synch to the lyrics!
