The Minneapolis-based trio Night Moves will return to Domino Records on March 25th with the release of their sophomore LP Pennied Days. Written and recorded by the band’s main members, singer/guitarist John Pelant and bassist Micky Alfano, the new record was also produced by long standing indie mainstay, John Angello (Sonic Youth, Kurt Vile). And yet, on a track like “Denise, Don’t Wanna See You Cry“, it’s the band’s warped and off-kilter sound that adds the real charm, making this seem like an intimate bit of home recorded bedroom pop. All kinds of eras of rock music breezily blend around Pelant’s redolent vocals, while this song sounds comfortably worn in the best of ways! The video is directed by Anthony Sylvester, of the NYC production company CUTSDATFLO, and he gives these visuals an 80’s era VHS feel with wacky effects and footage of Pelant and Alfano exploring some abandoned buildings out in the middle of nowhere.
