Watch: Dinner “Turn Me On”

Dinner (aka Anders Rhedin) will release his Psychic Lovers LP on April 1st via Captured Tracks. The label re-released his first 3 EPs last year as Three EPs, 2012-2014–collecting together 2012’s You Are Like L.A. (Looking Forward), 2013’s Girl (Looking Forward), and 2014’s Oui! (Red Eye Transit Records). Rhedin’s persona as Dinner is that of a slightly reclusive bedroom crooner just waiting to shed his shyness in exchange for a leather clad alter ego. Sonically, he might remind you of John Maus–both musicians channel 80’s pop nostalgia using droll, pitch shifted vocals to humorous and melancholy ends. “Turn Me On” sets Rhedin’s ennui to a starry-eyed, Euro pop beat, and the video features the musician lip-synching in front of a white screen. Plenty of lo-fi “keying” ensues, compositing the singer in various scenes where he can show off his hunky dance moves, leaving us to wonder if this self-proclaimed “normal guy” isn’t really a Danish pop star born 30 years too late.
